Valerie Woodward
I am a retired Geologist and self taught water-colorist. As a geologist I spent a lot of time in hotel rooms and decided I wanted something to do other than watching TV or hanging out in hotel bars. As a watercolor painter I have my own take on what I see and how I accomplish a painting. Not being one to follow the set “rules”of watercolor painting, I do not follow a set formula to accomplish every painting. I approach each painting with a separate perspective. I like doing landscapes and still life (often floral ). I love nature and presenting it in a boldness of color while at times keeping it a bit subtle. one should live life in balance and I find balance in my work by being light of heart and do what i call my “quirky cartoon collage” paintings in pen and watercolor to balance against my more serious works. In these paintings I attempt to capture a touch of humor of an area or the activity of a specific day....Life is time made up of layers of seeing and feeling and a painting represents only a sliver.
