About Us
Founded 1996 Southern Saratoga Art Society, Inc. is a not-for-profit, 501c3 corporation in the State of New York, formed for the purposes of fostering and promoting the visual arts in southern Saratoga County and the surrounding areas for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public by providing access to artist demonstrations, art shows, educational art programs and related programming. Membership is open to any individual actively engaged in the production of art and to other persons interested in supporting and participating in the activities of the Southern Saratoga Art Society. Southern Saratoga Artist Society is a 501c3 and welcomes any and all donations.
Our MissionTo encourage the development of art and to make the community of Southern Saratoga County more aware of visual arts.
Our Objectives
* To foster the appreciation of the visual arts.
* To further the education of members by organizing, arranging and/or conducting art demonstrations lectures and workshops. * To provide active artist members engaged in the creation of fine art with an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas. * To promote interest in in the visual arts by providing public access to artist demonstrations and art shows, hosting educational art programs, and providing community presentations on art. * To encourage new emerging artists both young and old. Membership cost is $30 per year. Student membership $15 a year. Membership is open to all artist or non-artist alike. Membership includes no guest fee to monthly meetings and monthly newsletter as well as participation in a variety of events. Membership runs from January 1 through December 29. Please print out and send membership application to: Southern Saratoga Art Society, PO Box 1536, Clifton Park, NY 12065. Monthly meetings are typically held on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:30pm at the The Clifton Park Senior Community Center, located at 6 Clifton common Blvd., Clifton Park, NY 12065 (There are no meetings held in January and February). Membership Benefits Monthly Meetings SSAS meets monthly and offers demonstrations by professional artists as well as opportunities to network and share ideas with fellow art enthusiasts. Member Art Shows and Art About Town Ongoing shows include the Autumn Jewels Exhibit, which features awards and cash prizes, and the annual Theme Show. SSAS also organizes art displays at local businesses as well as public buildings such as libraries, churches and community centers. Workshops Occasional workshops are presented by recognized, well known artists in a variety of mediums with discounted prices for members. Website Gallery and Bulletin The SSAS website provides information on meetings, shows and organization activities. The site includes a Gallery Page with a clickable link where artists can post their work and bios, and a Bulletin section featuring shows and exhibits of current members. Newsletters Monthly newsletters include artwork from SSAS shows and information on current and future meetings and activities. Social Events Seasonal events give SSAS members and guests an opportunity to mingle on a social level and exchange thoughts and ideas at various art receptions, including our annual summer picnic and holiday luncheon.
