RITA HELIE
Art has always been a thread throughout my life. It wove through many years of a career in the healthcare field, family life, and community work. Dabbling in the arts, drawing, decorating, etc. and my long time wish to paint finally resulted in fulfilling my dream to express myself through the art of painting.
My hope is that the collector and viewer of my work will be touched in some way, reflecting for a moment on the beauty of nature, the colors, and the joys we experience.
Oil painting is my passion, but I also find joy of expression through pastels and watercolor.
I have attended many classes and workshops in various media both locally and in Florida and studied oil painting with Artist Joan Lord.
I am past President of the Schenectady Art Society and a member of the Southern Saratoga Art Society.
My work has been exhibited in the Van Curler Room of the Schenectady County Community College, in the Moon and River Café in Schenectady, Schenectady Art Night at Proctors, and in the Shenendehowa Adult Community Center.
My paintings have earned several Honorable Mention Awards and two People’s Choice Awards.
